Hailing from Virginia, by way of Atlanta, now residing in Tampa comes Hip Hops next phenomenon. Merci Haas is his name. Merci had been in Atlanta since 1993, perfecting his sound and craft. Merci witnessed Atlanta prosper to never imaginable levels. It was hard for southern artist to get heard outside of Atlanta. Merci remembers seeing Cee-lo from Goodie Mob everyday living in Greenbriar Commons, go from hoodstar to International celebrity. Merci performed back in the days with Slip -n- Slide artist, Organized Noise an many others at Jack the Rapper, a showcase that has spawned some of todays top artist. From doing showcases to traveling in an around Atlanta, Merci is was no stranger to the grind and tune and being an underground artist. Merci's humble beginnings come from his father , who was a Dj. Merci would tote crates for his father and periodically would say a few words on the mic! Before his father passed (Dj JR) was Germanys top Dj. After the passing of his father, Merci headed to college, then to Atlanta. In college Merci made a name for himself, by hosting or performing at any showcase or talent show. After a short stint at Virginia State University, Merci packed his bags and headed to Atlanta. Since being in Atlanta Merci worked with many people only to come to this critical point in his life. In 2006 Merci dropped his long awaited highly anticipated cd, "Contradictions in Truth". Backed with banging beats this cd was a instant classic. Every aspect and charateristic of Merci Haas is on this cd. Coming from a town in VA (E-town), this is a huge accomplishment for Merci. A town where there are limited jobs, racism, no recreational outlets, plenty of drugs. Every other male you meet had been to prison, or has been locked up on minimal charges, with maximum sentences. Merci feels redeemed. Knowing that anyone can rise up from any negative situation and make a mark in life. In 2008 Merci packed his bags and moved to Tampa. Only to further his quest and follow his destiny. Look for big things from this spontaneous Gemini. One who writes poetry, scripts and songs. In this music business you have to be versatile. And a true Gemini to heart, Merci knows the meaning of versatility, creativity and elevation.
